“The Link” – November 2020: “With God All Things Are Possible”

Dear MPC Friends,

Do you wonder if God is powerful enough?

Once I was trying to exit an overpacked parking lot at Auburn University, and making my way out I was brought to a halt. Someone had parked in the entrance. “Great, what now?” Well, after a few minutes of waiting, a very large man walked up and asked if he could help. I said “Sure.” If he was offering, then he must have a way to help. So, he set down his backpack, put his back to the car, reached down, grabbed the bumper, and lifted the car, moving it a step at a time until there was a wide enough gap for me to get my car through. In awe, I could only stutter out a “Thanks.” He smiled, shrugged, picked up his backpack, and walked on. True story.

Jesus teaches in Matt. 19:26 that “with God all things are possible.” What to us may seem impossible, is entirely possible for him. If you are dealing with something difficult today, take a moment. Trust in the all-powerful God who created the heavens and the earth. Call upon Jesus in prayer (Phil. 4:6-7). He hears you; he has the power; and he answers prayer (1 Jn. 5:14).

There is a lot going on this month: the election, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving, and the Iron Bowl. Let us all be in prayer with thanks this whole month (2 Chron. 7:14). Remember, the Lord is utterly in control (Ps. 135:6; Isa. 14:24; 41:10; 45:6-7). He is able (Eph. 3:20).

Blessings in Christ,

Roger
