“The Link” – October 2020: Encouraged by Joy

Dear MPC Family,

Do you like to be encouraged?

I used to know a lady named Joy. And she was a joy. Whenever I saw her, her spirit was uplifted, and her eyes glistened with an internal light. Yet, she had cancer, and was going through chemo with all the pain. She could have been just focused on herself and her situation, and I think no-one would have blamed her. But that is not the case.

My mother told me, while I was deployed to Iraq, that this Christian lady told her that she prayed for me every day. She was at death’s door, but she was praying for me. This humbled me, and I cannot express how much it encouraged me.

1 Thess. 5:11 tells us to “encourage one another and build one another up…” Maybe you can remember someone doing that for you. Are you passing it along? If you are, be sure to let that person know you’re praying for them. You’ll be an encouragement, and your words just might help them get through a hard time. Wouldn’t you want somebody to do that for you?

May the Lord’s blessings be upon you,

Roger
