Gems from the Vault – Dr. O’s Series on Daniel!

Featured is Dr. O’s sermon series on Daniel 1-6. Dr. O stated concerning the study that Daniel contains “spiritual truths comforting and challenging for believers.” The messages are timeless and as important for us today as when preached in 1980.

Enjoy!

Back in the Pulpit!

cross_blackAfter a brief absence while recovering from surgery, it is good to get back in the pulpit! God is good! And what a passage to be able to preach! 1 Peter 4:12-19. I call this sermon “Entrusting Ourselves to God in Persecution.” This one’s to our brothers and sisters in Christ who are persecuted the world around.

Just Launching – Dr. Robert J. Ostenson Sermon Page!!!

As a tribute to Dr. Robert J. Ostenson (“Dr. O“), a number of sermons are provided here that he preached in the 70s and 80s while he was the senior pastor at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Montgomery, AL. I (Roger) am in the process of digitizing the cassettes my Dad collected many years ago (and has since listened to dozens of times) that contain these sermons. As I digitize and edit them for clarity I will publish them here. This is an ongoing project. As of today (15 June 2014), Dr. O’s first four sermons on the Ten Commandments have been posted. Stay tuned!

Biblical Studies Software Review

Here is my write-up on some of the Biblical software on the market. If you are serious about Biblical studies, you may already be tracking how helpful this software is. If you haven’t taken advantage of it, you are really are missing out on a wealth of information and helps in your study/work.

For a large view of the document, click on the arrow at the top right hand of the box.

Update: Version 6 is available for Logos and version 11 for Accordance – While I’ve updated from Logos version 5 and Accordance 10 (seems necessary), my review doesn’t cover the changes. However, I’ve been using the programs with the updates, and the changes really haven’t seemed to effect most of what my review covers. See the Logos and Accordance sites for more info.

Noah & the End of the World

Noah, the movie, is out. An interesting story for us all as we all descend from him! He’s our gggg . . . grandaddy.

[Update – 15 Sept 2014] – Just watched the movie. I don’t recommend it. If you know the biblical story, the movie will probably just either frustrate you or make you mad. Such an opportunity lost …

Here is a video of Dr. Michael Williams (Professor of Systematic Theology at Covenant) as he speaks to what the Bible says about Noah and the coming end of the world as we know it. Fascinating! And it might not be what you think.
